What does custom software cost?
It is an investment, and we treat it like one: a fixed quote in writing after scoping, not a day rate that runs until the money does. Builds are staged so a working first version starts paying for itself before the wish list gets built. And if off-the-shelf genuinely covers you, we say so before you spend custom money.
How long does custom software take to build?
It depends on scope, and the quote comes with an honest timeline rather than a guess dressed up as a guarantee. Because we build in short cycles, you see working software within the first weeks and use the first version while later stages are still being built.
Do we own the code?
Yes. The software we build for you is yours, not rented back to you, and it is written to be maintained rather than abandoned. If you ever moved on from us, another developer could pick it up. We think the way we run it after launch is why you will not want to, but the ownership is yours either way.
Can it connect to what we already use?
Usually, and it is assessed during scoping rather than promised blind. Accounting and payment connections are common ground for us, including Stripe, and where a clean connection is not practical we tell you what the workaround costs before you commit.
What happens after launch?
We host and run what we ship: infrastructure, monitoring, backups and support from the same team that built it, for a flat monthly amount. Improvements keep coming as the business changes. Custom software fails when it is abandoned, so ours is built to be maintained and then actually maintained.
Is custom better than off-the-shelf?
Sometimes it is not, and we will tell you. Off-the-shelf wins when your process is standard and the tool fits properly. Custom earns its keep when the tools almost fit and the gaps cost hours every week: the double entry, the workarounds, the subscriptions that each do part of the job.
